I just felt like running ...

20 years ago this past summer, I watched "Forrest Gump" at least 3 times in the theater. I think it was more. I bought and listened to the soundtrack all the time. Several months later I bought the VHS the day it was released.

It's been a long time since I've seen Forrest running everywhere, but I still think a lot about that movie. It's full of so many life lessons, opportunities and simple advice.  And I can never get enough of the running scene ...

As a J&A Racing Ambassador, I'm finally getting the opportunity to do a race that's long been on my wish-list of races -- the Wicked 10K in Virginia Beach. I'm pretty far off from going for a PR at that distance, so I'm doing to do the next best, and obvious, thing: run it costume.

But not just any costume. A Forrest Gump costume.

There are at least a half dozen looks I can go for with this, with the most likely being one with a shorter beard and hair so I can keep it natural.

It's the perfect way to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary and my favorite imaginary hero, all while celebrating my 10th year of running. Maybe it'll spark more thoughts about doing another marathon as well.

For now, though, I've got a costume to work on.
